Radical Abortion Activists Have Spent Over $9.3 Million for Abortions Up to Birth in Ohio

The contentious debate surrounding abortion in the United States has taken a significant turn in Ohio, where an initiative known as “Issue 1” seeks to legalize abortions up to the point of birth.

As of now, more than $9.3 million has been invested in this campaign by radical abortion activists looking to passie Issue 1 to legalize abortions up to boirth statewide.

Issue 1 in Ohio is at the heart of this divisive debate. It proposes to allow abortions throughout pregnancy, including late-term abortions, and has been described as one of the most radical abortion laws in the country. This has ignited fervent opposition from pro-life advocates who argue that it disregards not only the rights of babies but puts women’s health and lives at risk with dangerous abortions. It also undermines parental rights on abortion and sexual and gender issues.

Radical abortion activists, both individuals and organizations, have rallied behind Issue 1, pouring in over $9.3 million in financial support.

Republican Gov. Mike DeWine, who’s gotten hands-on in the effort to defeat the abortion amendment, immediately brought up money when asked earlier this week for his thoughts on how the campaign is going.

“Well, look, we would like to have more money,” said DeWine, who has hosted fundraisers and recorded a TV commercial for the anti-Issue 1 campaign. “The people who are funding our side of this are primarily from the state of Ohio. We have national money coming in for the ‘yes’ side. But what you’re going to see over the next few weeks is both sides having the opportunity to be on TV and communicate a message.”

“And we’re going to continue that message, and it’s a very, very simple message: this constitutional amendment just goes too far. Whether you’re pro-life or pro-choice, it just goes too far.”

For the week leading up to the start of early voting on Oct. 11, the “yes” side spent $1.8 million on TV and radio, ads while the “no” side spent about $859,000, according to Schweitzer, the Republican consultant. For the first and second weeks of early voting, the “yes” side spent $2.4 million on ads each week, compared to $1.4 million each week from the “no” side

Pro-abortion extremists will soon have even more funds to flood the state with false TV ads.

Democratic Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, who previously gave $250,000 to help defeat the summer proposal to make it harder to amend the constitution, has announced plans to contribute more to the pro-Issue 1 campaign in the coming days.

Should Issue 1 pass, Ohio will become the most radical abortion regime in the country, allowing for late-term abortion through all nine months of pregnancy, including when science confirms an unborn child is capable of feeling pain. As a constitutional amendment, Issue 1 will trump state law, rendering the heartbeat law unenforceable.

By failing to explicitly define viability, and by giving abortionists the final word in determining when post-viability abortions can be performed on a case-by-case basis, Issue 1 leaves the door wide open for painful, late-term abortions. Issue 1 also contains a major loophole by allowing late-term abortions to protect the “health” of the mother. The United States Supreme Court has interpreted “health” to include not just a mother’s physical health, but also her mental, emotional, social and financial health, essentially permitting late-term abortion for any reason.
