How Black Lives Matter and the media are contributing to the rise in antisemitism
Tuvia Tenenbom, best-selling author, playwright, friend, journalist and founder of the Jewish Theater of New York, has traveled the world to understand anti-Semitism. He describes his encounter with anti-Semitism in the UK in his latest book “The Taming of the Jew.”
Increase in antisemitic attacks: the recent fighting between Israel and Hamas has brought the issue to the forefront with more than two dozen antisemitic attacks reported in the United States since May 10. Antisemitic incidents in the U.S. reported to ADL have increased by 75%.
Tenenbom attributes this troubling trend to the pro-Hamas organization Black Lives Matter and its supporters on the American left and in the news media.
Tenenbom, 64, has endured anti-Semitism himself. American and European publishers rejected “The Taming of the Jew,” prompting him to seek an Israel-based publisher. Before that, French publishers were not interested in publishing him, even though his books are best sellers.
Geller Report: Tuvia Tenenbom, how do you explain the recent rise of anti-Semitism? Why do you think the pro-Hamas organization Black Lives Matter and its supporters on the American left and in the media incite hatred and anti-Semitism?
Tuvia Tenenbom: The rise in anti-Semitism in the USA is not the doing of BLM; they just made it “kosher” to be an anti-Semite in public. Just like our dear Adolf Hitler did back then in Germany: He didn’t create the Jew-hate, he just made it legal…
You say « Americans have to take action before it’s too late »… what efficient actions can they take? What do you mean by « too late »?
Jean Patrick Grumberg Geller Report https://gellerreport.com/“It’s very hard to fight anti-Semitism when self-hating Jews propagate the same hate”
How to fight, you ask? First off, the Jews in this country, in the USA, have to raise their voice. Sadly, many American Jews — like their brethren in the UK etc — are joining in the hate or are fearful to fight it back. It’s very hard to fight anti-Semitism when self-hating Jews propagate the same hate. It’s always been like that in Jewish history, and there’s nothing new under the sun. But the thought that anti-Semitism won’t succeed in America is proving itself wrong and false.
This book, for example, THE HUNDRED YEARS’ WAR ON PALESTINE by Rashid KhalidiPicador. It’s an account of the history of settler colonialism and resistance, based on untapped archival materials and reports. It is now a New York Times bestseller. It portrays the Jews as colonialists and the creation of Israel as a crime. Herzl, of course, is portrayed as racist, and the Jews of course have no right to have their country. And it’s a NYT best seller.
BLM. PLM. In the shadow of Covid America reveals itself. And it’s a sad image. For this virus, even Pfizer has no cure.
